  • Come join us and see Comedian DES BISHOP.

Undoubtedly one of the most enigmatic forces on the international comedy circuit, Des continues to travel the world over with his stand up shows. His most recent stand up show My Dad Was Nearly James Bond received its premiere at the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival winning rave reviews and playing to packed audiences. Des has gone on to perform this confronting and personal show at the Montreal Just for Laughs, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe before embarking on a national tour of Ireland this winter.
  • This leisurely-paced walking tour carves a path through the streets of the charming Old Port while we share stories of life as it was back in the 1800's up til the present day. As you sip cocktails, you'll learn how Mainers smuggled in and made rum, so much so, that we needed prohibition way before the rest of the country (or so some thought). While enjoying additional cocktails, we will share with you the location of speakeasies which popped up all over town during prohibition, the story of our own "rum riot" and some tales of naughty sailors and where they had their fun when they came to port.

New this year a unique opportunity to network on  Sunday evening. We will be starting the conference off with "a taste of Maine"!

A Variety of Offsite Vendor Sponsored Events!

Attendees have a special opportunity to experience Portland's historic Old Port in small guided tours on Sunday evening.  These tours will focus on two of Portland's best attributes - the food and entertainment scene.

Attendees have their pick of food-related tours, each focused on pairings with local craft beer, wine, or cocktails, or a chance to experience an international comedic talent at an intimate venue in Portland's arts district.

These special events are vendor sponsored.  Plan to put on your walking shoes and kick off the conference by experiencing Portland in a unique and exciting way.

PLEASE NOTE: These are exclusive vendor sponsored events. Only representatives of the member institutions can attend.

Tours are held rain, snow or shine unless the weather poses a real problem! For those who do not consume alcohol, there are alternatives in all locations for you.
